Lois Ricci was a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner for 40+ years.  While working night shifts in the ICU at a hospital in Missouri, she was asked to teach nursing assistants in a nursing home.  She quickly realized that she loved working with the elderly (and didn’t love working the night shift)! 

She attended Emory School of Geriatric Medicine and then earned her doctorate from the UGA Institute of Gerontology under the tutelage of Dr. Lenard Poon, while also serving as a member of his HRSA grant team.  Lois taught classes at Kennesaw State, the University of Georgia and Clayton State University.

Lois also sat on the board of the Georgia Gerontology Society, an organization that provides a wide variety of educational resources to its members and to the community.  She chaired the Tucker Civic Association and also championed the campaign to join the World Health Organization and their Age-Friendly City Network. It was through her vision and leadership that the City of Tucker earned the designation of an Age-Friendly City.
